Liqour Businessess In Trouble In Nyeri

In Nyeri a warning has been issued to those pubs and bars that do not observe the law by operating at odd hours of the night. Samuel Wamathai, the area deputy governor said that he will not tolerate such actions in his county.

In a move to show how serious the matter was, the deputy governor said that the county assembly has drafted a bill that seeks to introduce tough laws in the area on alcoholic joints.

He disclosed that the bill proposed heavy fines for those caught violating the law. Such businesses licenses will be cancelled if they are caught thrice operating at hours that are against the law.

Once the County Assembly members return to work after a break, the bill will be tabled for further discussions.

The deputy governor was speaking on Friday while addressing the media at Green Hills Hotel. He insisted that the law must be followed failure to which owners will face consequences.

He pointed out that there is no way a county can record significant development with many residents required to work being drunk. Many of them result in spending much of their time to heavy drinking.

He stated that for a county to endure or progress economically people need to be dedicated to their work and not be in bars for 24 hours. It is believed that domestic violence has become the order of the day in the region.

Just a week ago, Michael Mwangi, the area County commissioner debarred all parties organized by school leavers within the region. He said that any liquor businessman caught allowing school leavers to host parties will face the law.
