Dubai Promoter Speaks Out Regarding Rapper Cannibal's Dubai Drama

Rapper Cannibal is alleged to have staged his detainment at a hotel in Dubai in order to create a diversion from his shows which were doing rather badly.

According to a statement by the promoter Hassan Mwadzaya, he had paid Cannibal his dues regardless of the flopped shows and he distanced himself from the rapper as he did not want to be drawn into his drug usage.

"A total of 12 tickets were sold on his first show and he only appeared on stage for 5 minutes and announced to announce a 2nd show on Wednesday 13th Nov. On the event day, him and his friends started malicious reports on social media that he was detained at a hotel room. He had sensed that he'd be heading home empty handed as the gate collections were to constitute his payments. We sold another 3 tickets on that day and he feigned anger and didn't show up at the venue as planned."

Here is the full statement;

A lot of information has been circulating regarding the events that

had been unfolding. First and foremost my are hooligans

supporting a breakaway faction of a reggae promotions group and not

irate fans as it had been previously reported by media. As we're all

aware, Cannibal's show had only 3 people. These were haters with a

different agenda. It's evident that I have more enemies than I

thought.

A payment of 30,000Kshs had been remitted via M-Pesa to Cannibal.

"EE90OL158 Confirmed. Ksh30,000.00 sent to RALPH MASAI 0714042334 on

7/11/13 at 8:49PM"

Cannibal had been previously detained at the Dubai International

Airport for narcotics suspicion for more than five hours on the 8th

Nov, 2013. On the same date, we placed a call to his younger brother

Masai who confirmed that he had not carried any narcotics but had

engaged his daily fix of the international herb prior to his flight to

Dubai.

A total of 12 tickets were sold on his first show and he only appeared

on stage for 5 minutes and announced to announce a 2nd show on

Wednesday 13th Nov. On the event day, him and his friends started

malicious reports on social media that he was detained at a hotel

room. He had sensed that he'd be heading home empty handed as the gate

collections were to constitute his payments. We sold another 3 tickets

on that day and he feigned anger and didn't show up at the venue as

planned.

Cannibal and his friends continued to engage in narcotics usage and

had been pestering me for a fix and hence my decision to detach myself

from this loss making venture that could go south should authorities

discover their illegal dealings. I do not use drugs and I can

challenge him to a blood and urine test!

It's hard when losses are made but let's call it as we see it. Who is

going to absorb the losses we make in this industry? Why do artists

fail to deliver as a product and then put the blame the promoters?

The media outlets who had reported misleading information on their

websites and journals, you're advised find credible sources for your

reporting.

As an entertainment house we're not going to be cowed easily by

physical or verbal threats from hooligans and enemies of development.

These unfortunate events occurred at a time when we had been making a

notable recovery in our business. We however pledge to continue with

our entertainment activities and that by the grace of Allah, We shall

prevail. God Bless
