The Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Administration has
rejected the appointment of former Naivasha MP John Mututho as NACADA
chairman.
The committee observed that Mututho has two pending court cases and needs to clear his name.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had appointed Mututho to the position but later revoked the appointment to pave way for his vetting as indicated via a Kenya Gazette notice dated October 24th.
The committee chaired by Tiaty MP Asman Kamama vetted Mututho on Monday and tabled its report on Tuesday afternoon to await debate.
The former MP had served the office for one month after replacing Dr Frank Njenga.
This comes two days after Mututho ordered the closure of a bar that was operating during the day in Kagio, Kirinyaga County.
The gazette gave no reasons for the revocation, but Mututho has been quoted saying he resigned voluntarily in order to be vetted by Parliament.
