Famous for hits like 'Pamela' and 'Jubilation', Kenyan gospel artiste
Ringtone Apoko is the new ‘Road safety and awareness ambassador.
Amidst
a turn of events, Ringtone realized that roadaccidents were a looming
danger that can happened to anyone when they least expected it.
"My
friends and I were travelling back to Nairobi from a concert, but a
road accident we encountered along the way took some of my friends. I
was lucky to escape with minor injuries but to date, I always feel like
we could have done things differently for the better." Ringtone told
SDE.
Aside from road accidents, Ringtone believes that even
boda-boda drivers and customers should be enlightened on the importance
of roadsafety especially in regards to wearing protective gear.
"Many
boda boda passengers who shun thehelmets end up gravely injured
whenever accidents happen so every boda driver should have an extra
helmet for their customer," he added.
With the festivities around the corner,Ringtone shall be part of a Road safety caravan set to start on the 9th December.
The
caravan shall hold tours on the busy Mombasa-Busia highways since a lot
of people shall be travelling on them and even while people jubilate
over the holidays, they should remember that ‘It is better to be safe
than sorry'.
