Following the murder of Nyakach MP’s parents, ten suspects are in custody in connection with the murder that took place on Friday morning.
Owour’s father and mother were killed at their home. Attackers believed to be cattle rustlers tortured them before they set ablaze on the house despite the parents still being in there.
This came just a month after Owour complained about insecurity in the region when he joined a protest organized by villagers over the killing of an 80-year old resident.
It is alleged that the incidence was carried out by the same cattle rustlers who murdered Owour’s parents. They then dumped the body of the old man at the police’s provincial headquarters.
Ole Lenku, said that arrests had been carried out to those believed to be behind the attack and that the government will deal accordingly to those found guilty.
He was speaking at a meeting held on Saturday with the locals. He assured the locals that the government will heighten security in the area following the cattle rustling cases.
Communications director to the Interior ministry revealed that the suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
Nyakach MP accused Francis Mutie, the regional commissioner in Nyanza for not taking his calls on insecurity seriously. He had informed the commissioner on communities that were carrying out the cattle rustling activities.
